5/6O

Explanation Texts

This term, 5/6O have been writing explanation texts! The students jointly constructed an explanation called ‘Facts of the Matter’ (Chemical Science) to learn about text structure and key language features. Children then had the opportunity to independently write an explanation text about a topic of their choice. Through this exercise, students not only improved their writing abilities but also strengthened their research skills and critical thinking. They learned how to gather reliable information by taking notes, organise ideas logically and provide supporting details to make their explanations both informative and interesting.

Cityscapes

5/6O combined imagination, teamwork and hands-on learning to build vibrant 3D cityscapes from the ground up. This project was a culmination of all that was learnt in our Maths unit about 3D objects. The creations were carefully designed and well constructed. The final results? See for yourselves!

Jesse Tree

In the season of Advent, 5/6O have been exploring the tradition of the Jesse Tree. The Jesse Tree is a symbolic representation of the family of Jesus Christ. It traces family history through key figures in the Bible, beginning with Adam and Eve and culminating in the birth of Jesus Christ. The students enjoyed reflecting on these Bible stories and creating corresponding Jesse Tree symbols. As members of Jesus’ family, children then created symbols depicting important moments in their own lives.
