Learning Is Levelling Up
🎄🎄🎄🎄It’s beginning to feel alot like Christmas in 1/2 M this week. 🎄🎄 🎄🎄
We have begun to read and listen to the stories and songs related to the Advent Season. We have also been revising our knowledge in Maths which focuses on measuring time using a calendar. Students created their own December Calendar, personalising it by adding special dates that they are looking forward to in the coming month.Â
We discussed the meaning of Advent-a time of preparation and reflection. We decorated our room and created a poster with a list of words related to Christmas and Advent. We then drew pictures using ‘directed drawing’ videos. These videos are a great tool to listen to, as they give step by step instructions of how to use shape and line in drawings. We decorated our pages and were very pleased with the results.
Â
We have also started to learn about the history of certain symbols and objects related to Christmas. This week it was the  wreath and making our own individual Advent wreaths. We put them on dispaly in our room, marking the weeks leading up to christmas. Then we added the names of each candle which reflects the words of Advent and their meaning.Â
All of these are a reminder of the very special season we are preparing to celebrate with our family and friends. Our Advent Calendar is also a feature in our class. Each day we turn over a bauble and reflect on an ‘Act of Kindness’ that we could focus on for the day. The theme being; "In A World Where You Can Be Anything, Be Kind"
