From the Principal

Dear Families,

I am writing this while supervising the girls in Years 3-6 as they participate in the gymnastics program with Little Champions. We are always looking at ways we can provide an enrichment to learning at ACS. This term ends with students having the chance to explore the sports of gymnastics, tennis and even martial arts (secondary). Access to these programs in school allows for all students to have a go at something new, discover a new passion and build their skills in teamwork and resilience. We know that access outside of school is challenging for many families due to distance and cost and we will continue to find ways to bring these experiences into school. 

Opportunities don't come higher than representing the school and region and this week Damon headed to Sydney to compete in the State Athletics competition. We all cheered him on as we watched him on the big screen in the Library, and congratulate him on a stellar performance. 

SASS Week

Last week was SASS week. This is a time when we recognise the amazing work that non-teaching staff do in supporting our students and school. This year, to celebrate their impact we have created a "Garden of Gratitude'. This garden has been planted in front of the library and there is a plant that represents all the support staff who help make things great. Stage 4 and 5 students helped to create a fantastic morning tea which we know was appreciated. 

Communication with School

Please remember to pick up the phone to make a time to speak to someone about any concerns. Emails are not always seen straight away and if there are important things that need to be known face to face or over the phone is the quickest way to communicate. Thank you to those families who continue to work with us in making sure that needs are being met. I appreciate the levels of trust that many of you have shown us. Every person in this school has the wellbeing of all at the front of what they do. We have had a number of teachers from other schools and visiting officials in and this is something that is quickly identified. Let's keep working together for the betterment of students, staff and the community as a whole. 

Staffing

As many of you know Mrs Lord is taking some leave to travel with her family. We look forward seeing the photos from their adventures. Mrs Sloan will be relieving in the position of Head Teacher while she is away. We have also been lucky to have Miss Leigh spend the last four weeks of term with us. Miss Leigh is an experienced teacher from the Coast and is working with us while exploring the amazing things that the Riverina has on offer. Mrs Dywer is also with us fulltime while Mrs Lord is on leave and will be supporting our students in high school.

Excursions

As always, they are coming thick and fast. We are always looking at ways we can support students in both areas of need and interest. Please make sure to keep your eyes open on Sentral for notes and notifications.
