A TRIP TO THE CITY

FOR OUR LANGUAGE CENTRE STUD

A trip to the city was enjoyed by our Language Centre students on the 14th August. For some, it was their first visit, and for others it was an opportunity to see different landmarks and attractions, such as the State Library, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Shrine, Chinatown, Melbourne Central, Hosier Lane, ACMI and the Queen Victoria Market (though not open on a Wednesday, unfortunately!). We travelled by bus, train and tram, so our students can become more confident getting around our city in future. Big thank you to Ms Fina for her excellent company and orienteering skills.

Here are some of the comments from our students.

11 EAL Christmas in July

As part of their study of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’, our Year 11 EAL students were invited to a Christmas in July by Ms Bolton and Ms O’Neill. Though one of the important families in the text only received a “meagre” meal, our students were treated to roast chicken, potatoes, honey joys, shortbread, fruitcake and other treats. Thank you to Ms Bolton for all her work in decorating the room to set the scene so beautifully, and to all the students who attended. A special thank you to our clean-up crew, too!
