Coleraine field and game shooting report

On Wednesday,7 August, College clay target shooters travelled to Tahara to compete in the Coleraine Field and Game Shoot.

The day consisted of 30 targets with 10 different traps.  Each trap threw different varieties of targets, with targets going along the ground, above our heads and side to side.

College had a great day out, with Annabelle Funke receiving second place in under-15 girls, Harry Brown placing second in over-15s, and Libby Diprose placing first in senior girls.

We would like to thank Mr Burmeister for ensuring the day ran smoothly, Mr Bell for getting us there safely as well as parents and students for attending and supporting each other throughout the day. We are looking forward to our upcoming shoots with Noorat coming up on the 22 August, as well as senior GD on the 9 September.

Football

Senior Girls

On Monday, 12 August, the Year 10-12 girls ventured to Pedrina Park, where we participated in the GD girl’s footy tournament. As our team was short, we had 3 awesome girls from year 9, Ava Murrihy, Saskia Gould and Marianna Novikov, who came and helped us claim our 3 wins. We competed against Monivae, Portland High, Bayview, Baimbridge, and Good Shepherd/Heywood.

Throughout the day the girls showcased their determination and love for the game, they supported each other, creating a positive and encouraging environment despite the challenges faced in two of the games, the girls remained resilient. Being on the field with the girls really showed how much fun everyone really has. We had a strong start to the day winning our first 2 games, then losing against Good Shepherd/Heywood by ??? and Monivae by 1 point, our day finished with a win over Baimbridge. Our girls demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

A special thank you goes to the teachers and staff who made this event possible. Their hard work and dedication ensured that the day ran smoothly and provided the girls with an unforgettable experience. Thank you to the umpires from College, Zane Thomas, Will Bourke, and Myles Alderman. Thank you to Mr. A, Max (Gappy), Mrs. Bull (Nurse), and Miss Dixon for their support and organisation, which were instrumental in making the day a success.

Congratulations to all the girls for their fantastic performances and for representing the Hamilton and Alexandra College so well.

Senior Girls

This week saw our enthusiastic senior female footballers take to Pedrina Park in the annual GD Football round robin competition.

A dominant performance in the first game of the day against Bayview College in windy but sunny conditions got the girl's confidence up. This proved to be a tough start against some strong opposition. Another win ensued in a close second game against Portland SC.

Two tough games against Monivae and Good Sheperd/Heywood resulted in close losses; however, they saw some outstanding pressure acts and hunger for the ball. Another victory in our final game against Bainbridge resulted in a 3rd place finish on the day. Major Goal-kickers on the day were Matilda Potter, Alice Lanyon, Adelaide Koch and Mariana Novikov. Better players included Ava Murrihy, Grace Potter, Marianna Novikov, Lucy Carmody, Elsie Adams, Sas Gould and Issy Malseed.

Well done to our female football captain, Alice Lanyon, for organizing the team and training sessions prior to the day, Zane Thomas for helping out with field umpiring all of our games, as well as my other helpers in Max St John, Will Bourke and Myles Alderman.

Division 1 Mens

The College team played some exciting and high-quality hockey last Sunday and recorded a 10-1 victory over Jackabytes.  Jack Jarvis and Ciaran Nelson each scored a hat-trick whilst Troy Bolton scored a brace. Tom Templeton and Charlie Hawthorne also found the net.  This was a fine performance to which all contributed with Coach Bolton’s late superb reaction save worth particular mention.

We play our catch up game from the Sheepvention weekend against Rams on Thursday night at 6.00pm and then meet Demons next Sunday.  It will be a big week!

TERM 4 Saturday competition

A committee has been formed to get the Saturday com competition at Petrina Park up and running again. There is currently a signup form/link on Teams for the students to fill in if they want to play. It is important that they do this, knowing that they need to commit to the full season of seven weeks. There will be no game on the Melbourne Cup long weekend, and the season finishes before the school term. (October the 12th - November the 30th.)

There are two categories for the senior campus – Year 7s and 8s  and Years 9 - 12. (Yr 12s don’ usually play in Term 4 but they can if they wish).

We are hoping to enter as many teams as possible.  The due date for entry is very soon, so if you are willing to help please touch base with me ASAP.

If students have already paid their VNA fees, the price will be $45, to cover the courts and the umpires. If VNA has not been paid fees will only be covering the student for this term and the price will be $111.  VNA works on a calendar year.

We are also looking for any parents who would be willing to be an umpire on the day or a manager for a team. The manager role largely only involves scoring.

Please contact  me if you have any questions, or are willing to help – jogle@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au
