What's happening in Term 3 - Week 4

Premiers' Reading Challenge

This time last year our school had read twice the number of books that we currently have recorded!  We know you are all reading so please log on to your Reading Challenge page, even if for the first time, it is quick and easy and it will be so good to boost our numbers for the closing date of 6th September – after which time you will no longer be able to access your page. Don’t leave it up to everyone one else – you can get involved now!

Well pin a rose on your nose, here are our top 5 student readers this week:

Braxton R – 287 books

Michael F - 254 books

Noor N – 235 books

Ivaan G – 220 books

Shae E – 176 books

The leading year level this week is Year 2 having read 1075 books and congratulations to 2F the leading grade reading 504 books!

A total of 3636 books have been read across the school and 554 book reviews have been published!

The Great Book Swap

Thank you so VERY MUCH to those who responded to our last newsletter request and dropped in some phenomenal book donations! It is not too late to take a quick 5 minutes this weekend and have a look through the book collections at home and then donate one or two of your preloved books this will really help to make our whole school event a great success and raise funds for a very worthwhile cause!

What we are looking for:

  • books suitable for Primary age students only
  • books in good condition

Look out for the collection basket located in the office foyer to drop off your books up to a week before the event date!

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation Great Book Swap Event

The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading locally, learn more about Indigenous Languages and culture, while raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

By hosting a Great Book Swap Karoo students and families will be actively helping gift 18,000 new, carefully chosen books to children in remote Communities across the country.

On the day of the event all books will be displayed on tables, students will visit the Library with their class to browse the books and 'swap' a gold coin for a book.
