Visual Arts

Foundations student have been learning how to create stencils.

Year 1s glazed their pinch-pots and baked them in the kiln.

Year 5 students have created radial sculptures using folded paper.

Artists of the Month

Congratulations to Emily (FE) and Kimiya (5E) on being awarded the Artists of the Month for August. Emily created an amazing woven watermelon, and Kimiya a painting looking up at the night sky.

Performing Arts

Year 1s and 2s have been performing puppet shows as part of their drama unit.

Year 3s have been playing tuned percussion instruments.

Year 4 students have begun looking at music and dance from different countries and cultures. They have explored music and dance from South America, with a focus on Mexico. Highlights were listening to an indigenous Xtoles song, sung by the Aztec and Mayan people in ancient days. They watched videos of Mariachi music being played in the countryside. They played ‘Este Torito’ using instruments and learnt the Mexican hat dance.
