Year 7 Update
In the past fortnight, our Year 7s have been actively engaging in a range of meaningful wellbeing activities. Last week, we had a fantastic session with Charlotte focused on healthy ways to manage stress. The students participated in an interactive activity with balloons to identify different stressors and then tried out various coping strategies in a collaborative activity involving ice cubes. Students were able to see what different types of coping strategies look like in practice as they held onto their ice cube – understanding the different ways individuals can approach stress or an imminent threat. The session concluded with a relaxing five-minute mindfulness meditation.
Two weeks ago, the girls critically examined social media platforms and their privacy policies, learning valuable lessons about the importance of online privacy and how to protect their personal information. This was an eye-opening experience that encouraged them to be more mindful of what they share online and how they interacted with websites.
This week, the students are eagerly anticipating their Peer Support session, where they’ll catch up with their Year 10 Peer Support Leaders and reflect on their transition into high school thus far. This will be an opportunity to solidify the connections they have made during this program.
