Author Visit – Dr Cameron Stelzer, The Story Doctor On Tuesday 13 August

This incursion was a great success whereby all students from K -6 were able to engage with this talented author through a range of literacy based activities. Students at OLSS also have the chance to borrow through the library a range of all text composed by Dr Cameron at their leisure. This was a wonderful incursion that is the perfect segway into Book Week (Week 5).

BOOK WEEK/GRANDPARENTS DAY - Tuesday 20th of August

This year Book Week's theme is “READING IS MAGIC” and students have started to engage in literacy based reading activities in preparation for this wonderful celebration.

OLSS looks forward to welcoming our Grandparent community to share in the celebrations with the student community starting with a Liturgy, Student Parade,  Morning Tea, visits to the students classrooms and culminating in sharing a picnic with their grandchildren. All are welcome!

Sutherland Network Public Speaking Competition- Term 3, 2024

The students have readily engaged in our first round  (class) for Public Speaking. Students have had the chance to present and the winners from this round will move into the next round in week 6. As students progress more details will be in hand for parents to come into school and watch the advanced rounds.

In the meantime all students from year K-6 have gained knowledge and skills to become an effective public speaker, which is one of the most empowering and rewarding goals a child can pursue during their school journey. The benefits of learning to speak confidently in public at a young age can pay huge dividends as students develop into adults. Public speaking is an important life skill that any one of us can be called upon to use at various times in our lives.
