From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week our community was saddened to hear about the passing of Michael Papanikitas, a previous student who touched the hearts of many teachers and the whole community here at Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Many teachers and students crossed paths with Michael and his family and his siblings, Mary and John, also attended the school, and their mother was deeply involved in the parent and school community.

Michael and his family meant so much to so many of us and we are deeply affected by this loss. Our whole community offers our support and sympathy to the Papankikitis family during this difficult time and we would like to share the below prayer with you all.

Bubbles are magical. They make us smile. They make us giggle.

They remind us of simple joys and simple times.

Bubbles are brief. They are here for just a moment,

sparkling, bouncing, shimmering.

Then, having completed their task, they are gone.

Left behind is the memory of the joy and the experience.

So, as we think of bubbles dancing in the air,

let us be thankful for Michael’s time on earth.

It was not long enough for anyone here,

but Michael completed his task,

brought joy, light and energy into the world.

Now his task is completed.

While it makes us sad to not have him in our world,

we can remember this sparkling life that bounced through our lives

and left memories that will stay with us forever.

Amen.

Fr John Greig 40th Anniversary

Last Sunday our community joined toegther to celebrate Fr John's 40th Anniversary. This was a very special day for Fr John and we were so pleased to be a part of this celebration. Some of the parents and children attended this Mass as part of the Parish Youth Choir and below is what the choir director had to say:

"It with great honor that I say it was a huge success having the children turn up today and sing with the choir for Father John’s Anniversary Mass. The spirit was lifted having these amazing little people with us.  We want to organise more with them!

I would like to thank all the musicians and school for all their hard work. These children are such an example of hope and faith. Thank you for allowing me to be the choir director for this mass." Laura Nobile
