Celebrating Wear it Purple Day

Your Passion, Your Pride. This was the theme for 2024’s Wear It Purple Day. While officially celebrated on 30 August, this year the Girton community took to the PA courtyard on Friday 16 August to show their support for LGBTQIA+ people worldwide. Prior to the day, students were able to nominate songs to be added to the playlist for the celebration, with more than 100 songs making the final cut!

On the day, GCAG sold lolly bags and wristbands at lunchtime to raise money for Headspace Bendigo. Students were also given the opportunity to write a message of support on the PA02 windows and 'Pride Bingo' competitions were held in the Dance Studio. It was amazing to see so many staff and students sporting a splash of purple throughout the day, including an adorable appearance from our very own wellbeing dog Poppy! All in all, the day was a great success, and we thank our school community for their support of the LGBTQIA+ community. This school is a safe space for everyone, no matter their gender identity or sexuality. Diversity is a thing to be celebrated, not feared!
