Mid-Year Fundraising Update

The PIC is the parents’ group that works alongside the school to support students, strengthen our community and contribute to resources and events that enrich the St John’s experience. 

Our Goal

The playgrounds at the school were redone a few years ago, and as part of that, the PIC was asked to help contribute to a 10k loan repayment every year. A significant portion of our annual fundraising goes towards that. 

We also use funds to support purchase of resources for the school and to providing events that help foster the wider school community. We aim to provide three types of events: 

1. Student-focused events (e.g. Shrove Tuesday Pancakes, funded by PIC) 
2. School-community events (e.g. Mother’s Day Breakfast or Grandparents’ Day Morning Tea, funded or subsidised by PIC)
3. Fundraising events (e.g. Easter Raffle and Parents’ Trivia Night)

This balance of events helps us ensure we raise funds for the school while also focusing on fostering St John’s wider school community. 

Fundraising Update

So far this year, we have raised approximately 7k through the Second-hand Uniform Shop, Easter Raffle, Mother’s Day Stall, Donut Day and the Disco. 

At our recent meeting, we reviewed students’ wishlist items via the SRCs, and have agreed to support the school’s purchase of lunch time resources including new footballs, netballs, basketballs and gaga pit balls, as well as arts and crafts materials. 

Following requests from students and parents, we have also purchased two new marquees with the school logo which will be used at sporting events and any community stalls we host. And aprons so you no longer need to BYO when you help out with the food events!

Get Involved!

Thank you for your support of all PIC initiatives. We are a small group, but are doing a lot to help the school community. We would love for more people to come along and get involved.

Disco Wrap Up

What a fun night it was last Friday, with a glowing room filled with music and laughter. We hope all the kids who attended had a great time. 

These events do not happen without all the hard work of the parents behind the scenes, pouring hours into making St John’s such a fabulous community. 

A huge thank you to Suzie L., who put her hand up to organise the whole event. 

Thank you also to Nat L. for donating lighting for the night which helped create a great disco atmosphere, and to our spectacularly dressed security, Steve G. To all the parents who helped with setup, during the session and especially to those who stayed to clean up and scrub the floors after all the enthusiastic dancers left, thank you!! No tape on the dancefloor next time! 

Donut Day Tomorrow

Thank you to the Year 6 parents, led by Niki and Annette, for helping to coordinate the SRC Donut Day, happening tomorrow. Donuts will be delivered to students in the morning, for them to enjoy at lunch.

Parents’ Evening - Save the Date!

We’ve already been very busy planning a Parents’ Trivia Night for 24th of October. Mark your calendars.

This promises to be a great night out with some fantastic raffle prizes already lined up. If you are able to donate anything to support our fundraiser, please contact Penny (043 777 8687). This year, we will be raising funds for our school as well as Breast Cancer Network Australia, in support of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We will share more details later in the year.  

Second-hand Uniform Shop

The online uniform shop can be found online at the PIC Square Site. Stock is updated regularly as donations are received, so please check back often if you’re after a specific item. Orders are packed within a week of ordering, and you will receive a notification when it’s ready for pick up from the office.  http://st-johns-pic.square.site
