Maths Masterminds: Four Teams Enter the State Challenge!

We are thrilled to announce that four talented teams from our year 5/6 students have officially entered the Victorian Mathematics Games Challenge! This exciting competition is specifically designed to stretch and extend high-ability students across the state. There are over 200 teams entered across the state with close to 2000 players.  Here is what they will be tackling over the coming months:

 • Six Online Modules: Teams will complete self-paced, 90-to-120-minute challenges released each month.

  • Complex Problem-Solving: Students will apply fluency, creativity, and deep reasoning to solve unique puzzles and novel math problems.

 • Collaboration & Teamwork: Working in groups of 2 to 4, they will share strategies, debate ideas, and collaborate to climb the state leaderboards.

The students are really enjoying the challenge that this provides them and the chance to apply their maths skills to the problem solving tasks.

Here are some quotes from some of the students involved in the challenge:

Hayley M - it’s enjoyable working with my friends to figure out the problems.

Beau M -I’m finding this challenge really good because I get to work in a team that always challenges me about my maths understanding. I think it's helping me improve my maths thinking.

Logan - it’s been fun and challenging to be a part of these these challenges and work at an extension level with my friends.

Isla - I’m finding it fun and challenging and I think it will boost my maths knowledge.

Oliver - it’s fun to see how we are doing against other schools in Victoria. Our team is currently 31st place out of 246 teams in the competition.

Thanks
