Year 3 Mini Learning Expo

Year 3 Mini Learning Expo – Friday 12 June

This morning, our Year 3 students proudly hosted a Mini Learning Expo to showcase their learning from our Australian Geography and Mapping unit. Throughout the term, students have developed their understanding of Australia’s states and territories, map features, and national symbols. As part of their projects, students created detailed maps that included titles, compass directions, and key geographical information. They also researched and wrote informative fact paragraphs about each Australian state and territory, as well as learning about the significance of the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags.

Students shared their work with visitors from the Prep and Year 4 cohorts, confidently explaining their learning and answering questions about their projects. The expo provided a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate our RISE values. They were Responsible in preparing and presenting their work, Inspired Learning by sharing their knowledge and curiosity, showed Character Strength through confidence and perseverance, and displayed Empathy by supporting their classmates and helping younger students engage with the displays. We are incredibly proud of the effort, enthusiasm, and teamwork shown by all students.

This Mini Learning Expo marks an exciting milestone in our Geography learning journey. During Semester 2, students will extend their geographical knowledge by exploring other continents around the world, investigating their unique features, cultures, environments, and landmarks. They will compare these places with Australia, identifying similarities and differences. This learning will culminate in a larger Learning Expo later in the year, where students will once again have the opportunity to share their discoveries with our school community.
