NAPLAN Writing Results

Once again we are incredibly proud of our student's NAPLAN results this year in writing!

Students in Year 3 use a handwritten assessment.  Students in Year 5 are required to type their response.

Our results showcase the excellent teaching and learning provided by the Staff of St Joseph's School. Our writing block is uninterrupted and occurs each morning as part of our English Block. Students receive explicit teaching, timely feedback and students are also supported with the 'Third Teacher' which are the visual cues on their walls. These cues are explicitly taught to the students to ensure they know what is required for their growth and success. Students design their learning goals in writing, to be specific in the areas of their success criteria they are working on, to ensure they achieve their student outcomes.

NESA Audit - Short notice inspection

This year our school has been randomly chosen to complete a short notice inspection in the areas of English and Mathematics in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2.  This includes all programmes and the school's process for reporting student achievement.

We are also asked to provide all Working with Children Checks for both Staff and Volunteers along with all policies and procedures for Discipline in our school.

This will take place this Thursday 2nd July.

Two inspectors from the NESA (NSW Education Standards Authority) and an observer will complete this inspection.

I would like to thank the teachers of the Infants Section of our school (Mrs Smith, Mrs Townes, Miss Ledden, Miss Beach and Miss Ball), for their amazing programmes and their teaching and learning opportunities provided for our children which is very evident in their thorough planning and reflection.

Thank you to Mrs Murphy, our Leader of Pedagogy, for working with our teachers.

Happy Holidays

Thank you for a wonderful Semester One at St Joseph's!

This has been a long term with so many amazing events. Please try to have a restful holiday.  Staff told me there will be many very cold days of the holiday break, so warm your houses and enjoy the time to rest and relax. For those travelling - please stay safe.

We will commence our term with two Pupil Free Days - 20th and 21st July

Students will commence Term 3 on Wednesday 22nd July

Prayer for the School Holidays

Loving Father,

As we come to the end of another term,

we turn to You in confidence and trust

in order to appreciate the balance the school holiday brings.

Be with us and our families, and help us to embrace both rest and recreation.

May the holiday help restore us and re-create us in Your image and likeness, as we enjoy more of the love and presence of our families, on whom we ask Your blessing.

Amen
