ARTE

Our students have been busy creating a range of exciting projects this term.
After finishing art created with natural materials, students in Years 1/2 have been exploring texture and ageing techniques by creating treasure maps. Using coffee and tea to stain paper, they transformed white sheets into ancient-looking parchment before designing their own treasure maps.
In Years 3/4, students have been using the same staining techniques to create pages inspired by medieval manuscripts. These handmade ‘ancient’ pages will be used to practise calligraphy and decorative lettering, allowing students to experience art styles from the medieval period.
Years 5/6 students are putting the finishing touches on their digital artworks. Creativity has been flowing, with plenty of cats, cars and Simpsons-inspired characters. It has been so inspiring to see how quickly students became confident using digital art softwares to create their art. These are not easy to use!
We would love to share photos of our students’ wonderful artwork, however we are saving them as a surprise for our upcoming Art Show in Term 3. Stay tuned!
