MUSICA E TEATRO

Over the last few weeks in Performing Arts in Year 3/4, we focused on preparing a song to perform for another class. We approached the learning of the song in various ways. One method was, of course, learning the lyrics. But we did this by observing patterns, like how often a certain word is repeated; for example “Each time you hear me sing ‘lo so’, I want you to clap twice”. This approach helps students notice the words without making memorisation their main focus and they were so observant and engaged that they learned the words quickly and confidently. Fantastici!
We worked each week on "Si, si, lo so" , a fun, catchy song by Lorenzo Tozzi which resonates with our students by touching on familiar feelings and reminders. The students brought their best selves to class to sing this song. We explored the song by creating fun facial expressions during rest moments in the music, or adding percussion, or answering questions they were experts in.
When preparing for their performance for the younger classes, each group was given some freedom to add their own performance elements. For example, one class used percussion instruments, another used pom poms, and another used finger puppets. Despite using the same base song, every performance had its unique personality. This truly showcased how much they've grown over the term.
