Psychology Support at School – Expression of Interest
We recognise that it can be difficult to access psychology services - navigating the referral process, finding a suitable practitioner, long wait lists, time off school/ work, and it can also be expensive. We’re pleased to share that we are now able to support families to overcome these obstacles, making the whole process so much easier.
As of next term, students will have the opportunity to access psychology support during school hours through Shadow Mind Psychology, with sessions provided here at school by experienced psychologist, Lepi Cvetanovic.
All that’s needed is a Mental Health Care Plan from your child's GP, which will in most cases allow access to 10 subsidised sessions per year through Medicare rebates. Hard to get to the GP? Good news - we can now support families to do this via a telehealth appointment here at school if required.
Psychology support can assist students with a range of social, emotional and wellbeing needs, including:
- Anxiety and worries
- Emotional regulation
- Building confidence and resilience
- Friendship and social skills
- Managing change and transitions
- School engagement and wellbeing
If you believe your child may benefit from accessing this support, please contact Caro to register your expression of interest. Registering your interest does not commit you to the service but will allow us to provide you with further information about the referral process, availability, and next steps.
We encourage families to reach out if they would like to learn more about this opportunity. Please see information from Shadow Mind Psychology below.
For expressions of interest or further information, please email Caro through the Brunswick South office email.
We look forward to supporting the wellbeing of our students and families.
Therapy Dog Updates
Poppy has been busy this term and continues to make a wonderful impact across our school community. Each week, she works with a small group of students, supporting the development of important social and emotional skills in a calm, engaging and enjoyable environment
Through structured activities and interactions with Poppy, students are practising skills such as turn-taking, emotional regulation, recognising and responding to the feelings of others, and building positive relationships with their peers. Poppy's presence also helps to boost student engagement, confidence and participation.
It has been wonderful to see students eagerly looking forward to their sessions with Poppy and celebrating their progress. We are grateful for the positive contribution she continues to make to student wellbeing and learning at our school.
Keep up the great work, Poppy!
L'Area degli Amici Update
We are excited to share that L'Area degli Amici is back up and running!
Following the completion of our fantastic court renovations, the area had been temporarily closed. Last week, our dedicated Inclusion Action Team rolled up their sleeves and gave the space a much-needed clean-up, preparing it for students to enjoy once again.
L'Area degli Amici provides a welcoming and inclusive space where students can participate in calm lunchtime activities, connect with peers, build friendships, and enjoy a quieter environment during breaks. It has been wonderful to see students making use of the area again and engaging in positive social interactions.
A big thank you to our Inclusion Action Team for their hard work in bringing this special space back to life!
