Inquiry

For the second half of the term we have been looking at the different systems of the human body. We have all leant so much and have also enjoyed working with different people in our classroom. Each Inquiry session, we use a randominser that chooses our partner for us, at first this was difficult but now we are learning to recognise the talents and strengths that we all have to contribute. I put the students to the test and and asked them to give me one fact that they had learnt about the human body, the responses are below.

Spencer- That the small intestine collects all the nutrients from the food.

Finn- The liver can regenerate 70% of it's mass.

Astrid- Without the mouth you could not talk with your voice box.

Aoife- The brain can help pump blood.

Zeke- The cerebellum helps with exercise.

Lachie- The liver has over 500 different functions.

Ivy-The brain is 60% fat which means it is the fattiest organ in your body.

Hazel-The liver filters blood and bacteria and it turns food into energy. It is really strong and if it is damaged you wouldn't feel it at first but then your liver would shut down.

Lexi-The skull protects your brain.

Mathematics

In class we have been focusing on improving our number skills. This week we worked on division facts and we have learnt just how important it is for use to memorise the time tables. We have used the online program Math 99 which allows us to compete against each other. We all enjoy this program and are using it as one way to improve our mathematics skills. Here are the stats from our most current class game.
