Student Recognition

NSW State Library Competition 2026
During Term 2, students in K–6 have been working on their imaginative writing based on a stimulus. One student from each stage has been selected to progress to the competition. All students worked hard to create an original text and should be very proud of themselves. The following students have been chosen to move on to the next stage:
- Stage 1: Fionn O
- Stage 2: Douglas M
- Stage 3: Charlie S
A big congratulations to these boys.
A Morning to Remember: Douglas at Coogee
This week, our community has a special reason to feel proud of one of its own.
Douglas (Yr 4) joined hundreds of people at Coogee Beach to take part in an ocean swim in support of Leah, the woman recently injured in a shark attack. The gathering was a powerful display of community spirit, as people came together to honour her and stand in solidarity.
Dougie spoke about how important it was for him to be there and to acknowledge Leah in this way. That sense of purpose carried through the morning, which was marked by reflection, connection and quiet strength.
A particularly meaningful moment came with meeting Charlie, the man who helped bring Leah safely out of the water. It added a very real and human dimension to an already significant experience.
Douglas often goes about things without drawing attention, but this was a moment that stood out. His willingness to be present, to show respect, and to take part in something bigger than himself speaks volumes. It is an experience that will stay with him, and one that our community is proud to recognise.
We love to recognise all the extra curricular achievements of our students here at StMM. If your child has anything they would like to share with our school community we would love to hear about it and share in our fortnightly newsletter. Please feel free to email through to the office email if so - info@stmmrandwick.catholic.edu.au
