As the weather really cools down now as we move into Winter, we think about those in our community who are experiencing hardship. While we are very generous here at STMM, help is always needed. If you can help in any way, please find a link here.
Loving God,
As the nights grow colder, we bring before you all those experiencing hardship, poverty, and homelessness this winter. We pray for those sleeping under bridges, on park benches, or seeking temporary shelter.
Lord, open our hearts to the needs of our brothers and sisters. Help us to see Your face in the eyes of everyone who is vulnerable. Guide us to do something positive this season, and inspire us to be agents of justice and peace in our community. May our acts of generosity, our donations, and our prayers bring warmth, hope, and dignity to those who need it most.
We make this prayer in Your holy name.
Amen.

Your child’s school report has now been shared with you, and we hope it has given you a helpful picture of their learning habits and academic progress. While teachers invest many hours preparing these reports, we also understand that they don’t always answer every question parents may have.
That’s where Parent–Teacher Conferences come in.
These interviews are a valuable opportunity to talk directly with your child’s teacher about their learning. Coming prepared will help you get the most out of your time together. You might reflect on questions such as:
Report surprises: Were there any results or comments you didn’t expect?
Strengths and challenges: Do you understand what your child is doing well and where they are finding things difficult?
School goals: What is STMM currently focusing on in learning and wellbeing?
Home support: What can parents do at home to reinforce classroom learning?
After reading the report, remember to share it with your child in a positive and encouraging way. Celebrate the great learning that is happening and the strong work habits they are developing. Together, choose one area they would like to improve next term.
Children can be very hard on themselves, so approach the conversation gently. You know your child best and will find the right way to talk to them about their progress — but please do share it. When children see that home and school are working together, they understand that their learning truly matters.
At STMM, we are committed to partnering with you to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child. That partnership is something worth celebrating.
International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS)
Students in Years 2–6 are invited to participate in the ICAS English, Science and Mathematics Competitions taking place throughout August 2026. These online assessments are designed to challenge students and allow them to see how their skills compare with peers across Australia and internationally.
Please remember that these assessments are challenging and may not be suitable for all students. If you are unsure whether your child should participate, please speak with your child’s teacher. Only students who return an entry acknowledgment will be eligible to sit the competitions.
If you would like your child to participate, registrations and payments must be made directly through the ICAS Parent Payment System using the link below:

PPS Code: NZA475
If you are unsure whether these competitions are suitable for your child, please speak with their classroom teacher or myself sarah.clayton@syd.catholic.edu.au.
