YEAR 9-10 SCHOOL NEWS

Year 9 & 10
The Year 9 and 10 cohort has had a spectacular start to 2026. Students have embraced our college values of Responsibility, Inclusion and Courage, and are already contributing positively to the life of our school community.
Last week was both exciting and busy, with year-level activities and a very moving Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, led by our Traditional Owners. This was a powerful way to begin the year, grounding our learning in respect, connection and belonging.
Our focus on starting right centres on maintaining high expectations and consistent routines both inside and outside the classroom. Staff are actively supporting students with clear entry and exit routines and with managing their learning resources so they are ready to learn each lesson.
Families can support this by ensuring students have the correct resources each day, that laptops are fully charged, and by encouraging students to check Compass each morning to prepare for the day ahead. Students also require access to JacPLUS, the online subscription purchased through the Campion booklist.
Year 9 NAPLAN
Our Year 9 English and Mathematics teachers are working hard to prepare students for the upcoming NAPLAN assessments in March. Teachers have designed engaging sprint tasks to build students’ confidence, stamina and motivation.
This will be students’ final NAPLAN during their secondary schooling. We are strongly encouraging all students to aim high, give their best effort, and approach the four tests with confidence and pride in their learning.
Year 10
The Year 10 team is focused on supporting students to begin thinking about their career pathways. Throughout the year, students will have many opportunities to explore different options and future directions.
We encourage families to start conversations at home about work experience opportunities and areas of interest students may wish to explore. This is an important step that supports subject selection later in the year, including understanding potential prerequisite subjects for future pathways.
