Around The College

Harmony Day
Our College's cultural diversity is one of the many aspects which make our school a special place to learn and grow. We celebrated Harmony Day by wearing orange, engaging in a range of activities and honouring the many cultures represented at the College through dance, food and presentations. We are so blessed to have such a vibrant and welcoming community.
As Term 1 draws to a conclusion, we took a walk around the campus. The following stories are just a taste of what has been happening this week.
Solid Foundation
During Term 1, Year 8 have been studying Geology, as part of the Science syllabus. This week they conclude their unit of learning after studying topics like the structure of the earth, rocks and minerals, weathering and erosion and volcanoes.
Rainbow Fish
The wall displays in our Infants classrooms are consistently stunning. It is such a pleasure visiting the classrooms. Year 1 has spent Term 1 immersed in the much-loved storybook, The Rainbow Fish, by Swiss author and illustrator, Marcus Pfister. The unit of work focused on storytelling, creative writing and art. The students created their own fish, with its very own character and features and created stories about it. A wonderful interactive display was also created for the children to explore aspects of our ocean. Each child contributed to the displays by adding their own fish.
Assemblage Art
This week, our Year 9/10 Visual Arts students completed their unit of work on Assemblage art. They created a three-dimensional artwork using everyday materials or objects, like cardboard, commercial products and pieces of junk. Inspired by artists like Marcel Duchamp with Ready-Mades and Australian artist Rosalie Gascoigne with Assemblages, this art style looks to reinvent the mundane and overlooked.
The students' artworks are on display in our Library, until early next term. Make sure you drop by to see these wonderful creations.
Easter Craft
KT spent part of Tuesday morning engaged in Easter craft. There was colouring in, decorating biscuits and making bead and clay crosses.
