Welcome Back: Carrying the Lantern Together
As we open our doors to a new school year, we do more than just begin a new term of learning. We recommit ourselves to a mission of faith that has guided us for generations—a mission upheld by the courageous spirit of Nano Nagle and the Presentation Sisters and Holy Family's charism: "Be the light."
When Nano Nagle walked the dark streets of Cork, Ireland, in the 1700s, she carried a small lantern to light her way to the homes of the poor and the hidden schoolrooms where she taught. She didn't wait for the world to become brighter; she took it upon herself to bring the light where it was needed most.
This year, we invite our students and families to do the same. In our classrooms, on the playground, and in our local community, we strive to be "People of the lantern." For us, being the light means:
- Acts of Kindness: Speaking words of encouragement to a classmate.
- Hospitality: Welcoming new families into our community with open hearts.
- Justice: Standing up for what is right and helping those who are struggling.
Faith: Trusting that God’s love shines through us when we serve others.
As we settle into the routines of 2026, let us remember Nano’s words: "Love one another as you have hitherto done."
We look forward to a year where every student discovers the unique light they hold within and learns how to share it generously with the world.
Welcome to the new school year—let’s make it a bright one!
