Communication at SMDP

Communication at SMDP - Staying Connected with Families
At St Martin de Porres, keeping families informed, involved and connected is an essential part of how we support every child’s learning and wellbeing. We use three communication platforms, nForma (new), Seesaw and the SMDP newsletter and each has a clear purpose, so families can easily access the information they need.
nForma (NEW for 2026)
All families are required to sign up.
nForma is our new whole‑school administration and communication platform. It replaces OPEROO and will now be the central place for all student and family information.
nForma allows us to manage multiple school functions in one secure location, including:
- Excursion and camp permissions
- Student medical details
- First aid information
- Reporting
- Attendance/Absence Form
An email has recently been sent to all parents from the nForma system.
Please ensure you have signed up — families who have not registered may miss important updates, permissions and school information.
If you require any assistance, please email Lucas: lmangani@smdplaverton.catholic.edu.
Seesaw
Sharing learning and classroom communication
Seesaw is our digital learning journal and classroom communication tool. Families can download the Seesaw App from the App Store or Google Play.
Through Seesaw, parents and carers can:
See their child’s learning, thinking and creativity
Receive classroom updates, reminders and announcements
Communicate directly with the class teacher
Celebrate their child’s work by liking or commenting on posts
At the beginning of each school year, teachers provide families with a QR code and unique login to access their child’s Seesaw account.
Please note our communication guidelines
Staff are unable to respond to Seesaw messages during teaching time, before 8:30am or after 4:30pm. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritise student learning and wellbeing throughout the school day.
If your matter is urgent, please contact the school office directly so we can support you promptly.
SMDP Newsletter
Fortnightly updates for the whole school community
Every two weeks, families receive the SMDP digital newsletter. It includes:
Student and school achievements
Learning and teaching updates
Student award recipients
Information about current educational or social topics
The annual school calendar
Upcoming events, school closure days and excursions
The newsletter is shared via Seesaw and nForma.
Our Commitment to Clear, Consistent Communication
These platforms work together to ensure families receive timely, accurate and meaningful information. By staying connected through nForma, Seesaw and our school newsletter, you’ll always have a clear window into your child’s learning and school life.
We thank you for your continued support and partnership.
