Welcome to the wellbeing page for 2026. I am excited for the challenge and opportunities the role of Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (MHWL) presents.

On this page there will be articles about what the school is providing students in the Wellbeing space as well as sharing articles and videos that will provide information to families about how to deal with some of the challenges of raising children.

Start Right program

We have spent the first 7 days of school focussing on understanding the school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

Being able to demonstrate how we use those values to create and follow classroom and school expectations. We have spent quality time getting to know our teachers and class mates. It is wonderful seeing how these lessons have transferred to the playground - students are demonstrating care for friends and the school ground.

Brain Food

All classes are taking a brain food break at 10am. “Brain food” is an opportunity for students to take a break from learning and reinvigorate their brains by eating a healthy snack. It is a very healthy habit for the children to develop and assists with their concentration in class.

During this time children are only allowed to eat fresh fruit or vegetables and non-processed foods  (eg. carrot sticks, celery).

Transitions

Our new Foundation students have completed their staggered start to school and from next week will be with us full time. The transition from kindergarten / Early Learning Centres to school can be a big one.

For all children the first few weeks of a new school year are often physically, mentally and emotionally tiring. Changing year level, moving classrooms and meeting new teachers and classmates can all be factors that make you child more tired (maybe a little cranky too). Here is a video from School TV - Educators discussing the challenge of starting school, and a fact sheet about transitions.

Lunchtime Clubs

Over the coming weeks there will be opportunities for students to participate in activities during lunchtime play. There are paid activities - Digimaker Coding club (Wednesdays) & Chess club (Fridays). If your child is interested in these programs there are flyers in the office or see the "From the Office" section later in this newsletter.

On Monday lunchtime the Wellbeing room will be open for students to work on Jigsaw puzzles, play board games and participate in beading. There will be different offerings throughout the term.

Social Media Ban Information

You will be aware that the government introduced a new law that bans children under the age of 16 from creating Social media accounts. Some apps have deleted existing accounts while others have placed restrictions on these accounts. If you are interested in finding out more or understanding how you can prepare your child. Here are some links to the e-safety commissioner's information pages. There are resources and free webinars available.

RRR Awards

This week at assembly we acknowledged students who displayed the school values away from their classroom.
