Welcome back! We hope that all students and families enjoyed a well‑deserved break and are feeling prepared for the year ahead. A special welcome goes to all the new students and families joining the Norwood community this year. We’re delighted to have you with us!
As we begin the new school year, we look forward to the focus and commitment students will bring to their learning and co‑curricular activities. For our students, this is an opportunity to engage with new challenges, explore areas of interest and continue building meaningful experiences. To our parents and carers, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child’s education.
Wishing you a positive, productive and inspiring year ahead!
You may have seen that our updated Senior School Handbook was released at the beginning of this year. This comprehensive guide continues to be an essential reference for families, outlining the day‑to‑day organisation of the College, key policies and important information about the VCE. Whether you’re navigating the year ahead or planning for future pathways, the handbook remains a valuable resource.
We encourage all families to take the time to read through it and stay informed about current expectations and guidelines. If you haven’t accessed the handbook yet, you can find it here.
A standout moment in Week 1 was our College Assembly. Not only did we warmly welcome our new Year 7 students into the Norwood community, but we also celebrated our Year 12 cohort as they began their final year with us.
Receiving their Year 12 badges is an important tradition, symbolising the leadership, responsibility and maturity expected of our senior students. As they step into this pivotal stage of their schooling, we look forward to supporting and guiding them throughout the year ahead.

Thank you to the parents and carers who attended our VCE Parent Information Evening on Tuesday 3 February. This year, we started with a BBQ prepared and cooked by our Year 12 student leaders and Mr Rod Mitchell (Head of Year 10) prior to the official proceedings. It was a wonderful way to welcome families and set a positive tone for the evening.
The session itself provided an overview of VCE policies and procedures, assessment requirements, exam expectations, and the way the final ATAR is determined. The Senior School Team also outlined how families can best support their child throughout the year, shared key resources, and took time to respond to questions from those in attendance.
Thank you to Mr Daniel Cole (Head of Year 12), Mrs Samantha Fox (Year 12 Coordinator) and Ms Annie Hearne (Head of Year 11) who were involved in preparing and delivering the evening. We hope the information provided assists families in supporting students throughout what can be a demanding and often challenging year.
