Primarily motivated by the goal of Having a Fun Day, our senior squad ventured to Ringwood SC to contest the Twenty 20 cricket final on Monday 9 February.
Invited to bat first, Captain Heidi C and Chiara G were most keen to set a challenging total. Heidi, running 3 byes off the first delivery set the scene. Chiara, with 5 runs from her first 6 balls faced, indicated her intent, before unfortunately being caught behind.
Issy A joined her skipper and cemented a match winning partnership of 98 runs, in which some classic straight drives and astute running between the wickets were highlights. When Issy was judged just short of her crease for 17, first gamer Hayley T quickly opened her account and was steadfast in her support of Heidi who continued to motor along at an impressive pace.
As our middle order batters were more than content to continue to support from the boundary, our innings concluded with both batters undefeated: Hayley a valuable and determined 9, and Heidi a graceful and powerful 76 (including one towering 6 over square leg).
With an impressive tally of 196 on the board, our players were looking forward to showing their wares in the bowling and fielding compartments. All bowled multiple overs, apart from the versatile Heidi who kept wickets, and the figures were impressive.
Tegwen R: 2/13 off 3 (both bowled)
Heather F: 0/17 off 3
Leah T: 1/7 off 3 (dismissed their best player)
Emma M: 1/12 off 2
Issy: 1/8 off 2.2
Hayley: 1/14 off 2
Chiara: 1/3 off 2
The wickets comprised 4 batters bowled; 3 caught behind by Heidi and one run out when Emma at backward square leg whipped one in to Heidi’s safe gloves.
Norwood 2/196 off 20 d Ringwood all out 75 off 17.2.

Congratulations to Captain Cowie and her Companions!
In the wrap up, we unanimously agreed that our goal of having fun was achieved. The Premiership Pennant and progression to Region had been a bonus!
