Student Health Plans for 2026

As we head into the summer holidays, it’s the perfect time to review your child’s medical plans with your GP. This includes Asthma Australia’s School Care Plans, ASCIA Anaphylaxis Plans, ASCIA Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever) Treatment Plans, and Diabetes Victoria Action and Management Plans.

Updated plans are essential for all students who have a diagnosed medical condition. Without current documentation, students will be unable to attend offsite activities such as camps, excursions, and VET.

Please return updated medical plans, and if needed, any medications and a signed Administration of Medication Authority Form at the beginning of the 2026 school year. Forms and plans can be submitted in person or via email to cindi.carr@education.vic.gov.au.

In Term 1, 2026, families of students who require a Student Health Support Plan (SHSP) will be contacted to review or update their plans. Please keep an eye on your email and Compass notifications for further communication.

Sun Safety

As families head into the summer holidays, it’s important to remember that UV levels in Victoria remain high throughout this time. When the UV index is 3 or above, sun protection is recommended — and during summer it is often 8–11 or higher, meaning skin damage can occur in a matter of minutes. Even on cooler or cloudy days, UV radiation can still be strong. Families are encouraged to maintain sun safety routines during holidays, including using sunscreen, wearing hats, and seeking shade where possible. Keeping these habits in place over summer helps protect young people’s skin and supports a safe return to school in Term 1

 Hydration & Heat Prep

Longer days and more outdoor activity mean students need to pay closer attention to hydration. Dehydration doesn’t always look dramatic — it often shows up as fatigue, irritability, or difficulty concentrating. Even small drops in fluid levels can cause headaches, tiredness, and slower thinking. Carrying a drink bottle and choosing water over energy drinks helps keep energy steady and supports both learning and physical performance. Building these habits early makes it easier to handle the hotter months ahead.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via email at cindi.carr@education.vic.gov.au or by contacting Peter Lalor Secondary College.

Thank you for taking the time to update your child’s plans and help us start 2026 smoothly.
