Celebrating Our Year 12 Graduates

Our Year 12 students have shown strong commitment to their pathway goals throughout the year and we acknowledge the effort involved in preparing for life beyond secondary education. It has been encouraging to see students refine their interests, explore training and employment options and complete the key steps needed for a successful transition.

As students continue to plan their next steps, the following online resources may be useful:

HWLLEN Pathways Guide

A practical guide to apprenticeships, traineeships, TAFE programs and local industry pathways. https://www.hwllen.com.au/pathwaysguide

MyFuture

A national career information service offering job profiles, exploration tools and planning resources.

 https://myfuture.edu.au/

Victorian Skills Gateway

An overview of courses, apprenticeships, traineeships and training providers across Victoria.

We wish our graduating students well in their future endeavours, whether that involves work, training or further study.

Students who would like additional support with pathway planning, resumes or job applications are welcome to contact the Careers Team at careers@peterlalor.vic.edu.au

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

This year many of our students took part in Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) across a range of local industries. SWL continues to be a valuable part of our program, giving students real experience, practical skills and a clearer sense of the pathways available after school.

We are pleased to share that employer feedback was overwhelmingly positive. A small number of students were even offered part-time employment following their placements — a great achievement and a reflection of the positive impression they made in their workplaces.

Some of the collective highlights included:

  • 73% of employers gave 5 stars for attendance and punctuality
  • 69% gave 5 stars for teamwork
  • 65% gave 5 stars for communication, willingness to learn and workplace behaviour

Many employers also left comments that highlighted the strengths of our students:

  • “Jed is a hard worker, he has an excellent work ethic and is proactive.”
  • “Sirene was a great addition to our playgroup. Showing initiative and respect, she will be a great addition to any workplace.”
  • “It is a long day for Judd. The business has been extremely happy with his initiative and willingness to learn.”
  • “Laoura was always working, she never got distracted and was always open to doing any task assigned to her… she always completed jobs efficiently and effectively.”

We are proud of the way our students represented Peter Lalor Secondary College throughout their placements. Their efforts, attitude and professionalism were consistently noticed and valued by employers across the community.
