Grade 6

The past two weeks have been filled with exciting learning experiences for our Grade 6 students. They grade 6’s have been continuing practicing a sport of their choice in 5/6 sport and developing their capacity for teaching by assisting the Prep’s with PMP.

We have successfully finished reading the novel Rivet Boy by Barbara Henderson. The students thoroughly enjoyed following the journey of the main character and engaging in discussions about the novel’s themes and messages. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for reading and their thoughtful responses to the story.

Alongside our novel study, we have been strengthening our persuasive writing skills. The students have been working hard to develop convincing arguments and structure their writing effectively, ensuring they can present their opinions in a clear and compelling way.

Our mathematical journey has focused on building a deeper understanding of BODMAS (Brackets, Orders, Division/Multiplication, Addition/Subtraction). Students have been applying their knowledge to solve complex equations and understand the correct order of operations. Additionally, we have explored different types of graphs to display and interpret data, helping students recognize how information can be represented visually in meaningful ways.

Our School Captains and Vice Captains went to the city for the GRIP Student Leaders Conference at the Melbourne Convention Center. They have built and discussed so many great ideas with other schools and can't wait to bring them back to Grayling and get to work!

As always, we are incredibly proud of the effort and dedication the students have been showing in their learning. We look forward to another exciting fortnight ahead!

Some of our fantastic captains (Arusha, Abdullah, Nathan and Kaidence) enjoying themselves in the city as well as some students from 6B helping out with PMP!
