Design to Dine

VCE VCD - serving up excellence!

Simone Goddard

Teacher - Visual Communication Design

VCE Units 3 & 4 Visual Communication Design students are learning about what it takes to be a designer in a professional design practice.

A key aspect of being a designer is the ability to transform ideas from a 2-dimensional concept (on the page) to a 3 dimensional perspective. This type of practice is called prototyping

Students were asked to create a prototype for a tablescape inspired by an artist or designer of their choice. Working to a brief, the tablescape needed to include  cutlery, dinnerware, glassware, tablecloth and table decoration, as well as to clearly reflect the visual language and aesthetic of their chosen designer or artist.

Students worked tirelessly over 3 weeks to complete the folio of their concept and the prototype.  They tackled this challenge with great enthusiasm, dedication, and a keen eye for detail, resulting in impressive concepts that truly came to life!

All of the tablescape prototypes were presented together -  and rightly celebrated with a visit from Ms Harris and other senior school staff.
