Student Attendance

Every School Day Matters

Attending school every day plays an important role in your child's education and overall wellbeing. Here's why:

  • Building Strong Foundations: School provides the essential skills and knowledge that set your child up for success, both now and in the future.
  • Growing Socially and Emotionally: Through interactions with friends and school staff, your child develops crucial social skills like communication, resilience, and teamwork. These skills build confidence and a strong sense of belonging.
  • Creating Lasting Friendships: School is where lifelong friendships are formed, boosting self-esteem and creating a supportive community.

Missing just one day of school every two weeks adds up to four weeks of lost learning time over a year.

The website 'Parenting Strategies' has resources that may be helpful if your child is reluctant or refusing to go to school.

You can find their resources at www.parentingstrategies.net or download ‘Responding to school reluctance or refusal: Strategies for parents’ from the resources area in Compass.
