During Lent we are reminded to focus on simple living, prayer, and fasting in order to grow closer to God. In these first weeks of Lent, we are encouraged to increase our moments of prayer. This may be as simple as having a family prayer before meals.
Fasting can be more than just abstaining from food. Pope Francis shares his wisdom around this notion of fasting:-
As in previous years, St John's has made a commitment on behalf of all the students to support Project Compassion as a way of almsgiving this Lent. This promise was made at the Ash Wednesday Mass to share what we have and to act for justice and peace in all that we do. Each class received a class collection box and all families received a small collection box to keep contributing throughout Lent to support the wonderful work that Caritas Australia does in communities in need. These boxes can be returned to the Church after Easter. Alternatively, donations can be made online at caritas.org.au or using the QR code:
