R.E. NEWS

Ash Wednesday/Beginning of Year Mass

Ash Wednesday mark the beginning of the season of Lent. Our Ash Wednesday and Beginning of Year Mass will be held in our church at 10.00am on Wednesday 14th February for Years 1-6. Our infants students will travel by bus to and from the church with their class teachers. Thank you to those who have consented already on Compass. Please consent prior to the date above.

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE, NO MEAT PRODUCTS will be available from the School Canteen next Wednesday 14th February in observance of Ash Wednesday.

2024 Sacraments

Throughout the year students who have been baptised as Catholic have the opportunity to receive the following sacraments.

Year 2 - First Confession (Term 1)

Year 3 - First Eucharist (Term 2)

Year 6 - Confirmation (Term 3)

If your child is not in the sacramental years listed above, and you would like your child to receive the sacraments (they may be new to the school or may have missed a sacrament due to illness), please contact Mrs Clarke. It is important to make contact, as we only keep records of the completed sacraments at school. The sacraments follow a specific order in our parish. For example, students wishing to receive Eucharist must have received the sacrament of Confession beforehand. There is preparation involved in all sacraments.

First Confession

First Confession will be later this term (Week 7). Please keep an eye out in the newsletter and on Compass for further information regarding the Information Night and Enrolment Masses.

School Leaders Induction

Our School Leaders for 2024 will receive their badges and blazers at a special ceremony. A date for this is yet to be finalised. As soon as we have more information, families will be informed.

LIBRARY NEWS

Welcome to the Library 2024.

Included in this newsletter are:

*Library days for each class

*NSW Premier's Reading Challenge invitation and instructions

*Library Clubs and opening days on each campus, so please keep reading.

Library Bags

Please note that EVERY student is expected to have a library bag on their library day. Anything that gives the library books some protection on their way between home and school, and is practical for school, is fine. Even an old, clean pillowcase is good to use. All students have the opportunity to swap their books in break time on any day the library is open at their campus not just on their class library day.
