Discovering the Fun of Reading: Year 3/4 Students Explore Readers Workshop.
Our Year 3/4 students are on an exciting reading adventure in the Readers Workshop! They're learning some amazing things about reading, such as how to ‘real read’ on their own, make reading last longer, pick their own ‘just right’ books, and what to do if a book gets a bit boring.
The workshop has different parts, making it a bit like a story itself. Our students are figuring out how to read by themselves, and it's not just about reading words – it's about reading for longer without getting tired (Building stamina).
Choosing the right book is also a big part of the adventure. Our young readers are getting good at finding books that match their skills and things they like using the ‘Five Finger’ rules. It's fun to see them pick out books that make them curious and excited!
And guess what? They're also learning what to do if a book isn't as interesting as they thought. They have smart tricks to get back into the story or switch to a new book without any worries. If the book still remains a little challenging, they can abandon it with reasons.
The students are on a journey through the world of books, and every page they turn is a step into new and amazing adventures. Here's to the joy of reading and all the awesome things books can show us!
