Inquiry

Big Idea: How do I grow as an individual?

Global Goal: Good Health and Wellbeing

Term 1 inquiry unit will focus on the topic ‘How we grow as an individual’. We will explore the journey of personal growth and development and the role the community play in supporting learners along this journey. By understanding the factors that influence growth, fostering self-awareness, resilience, and a love for learning, we can empower learners to thrive as individuals. Learners will be encouraged to use a growth mindset rather than a fixed. They will ponder the prompt “What can I do now that I couldn’t do yesterday, or a week ago, or even a year ago!”. They will be encouraged to focus on how they can build a new strength and the process of learning, harnessing the Power of Yet - “I can’t do it yet”. Through this Inquiry unit we strive to teach transferrable skills to develop lifelong learners capable of achieving anything they put their mind to.

To support your child’s learning at home, you could engage in the following:

  • Encourage your child to keep a journal where they can reflect on their personal growth experiences. For example, they can write about their goals, aspirations and any challenges they've faced, and how they overcame them.
  • Allow students to conduct interviews with family members, peers, or mentors to learn about their experiences with personal growth and how they've navigated challenges in their lives.
  • Share age-appropriate non-fiction books or online resources about growth and development. Watching educational videos together can further enhance their understanding. Encourage them to ask questions and be curious about the world around them.
