National Gallery of Victoria - Triennial Excursion
Last week VCE Art Making and Exhibiting and Art Creative Practice students spent the day at the National Gallery of Victoria, exploring the work on display at the Triennial exhibition. Occurring only once every three years, this exhibition presented a unique opportunity for VCE students to view and experience a range of contemporary art by established artists from across the globe. These works allowed students to understand the importance that display methods can have on the meaning of a work, as many of the works shown filled entire rooms and encouraged audience participation. Many of our students actively participated in many of the works, which was fantastic to see, including by writing letters to their mum in Yoko Ono’s participatory work My Mommy is Beautiful. Students behaved incredibly respectfully throughout the gallery and positively demonstrated the school values throughout our day in the city.
