Upcoming learning in Year 2

During the next fortnight, Year 2 students are undertaking learning in the following areas:

Reading - Students will be engaging in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. Class will be starting their small group reading sessions to help support students with their reading, comprehension and fluency.

Writing - Students have been exploring the different parts of narrative writing including character, settings, problems and solutions. Students have had the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt during the writing block by creating and writing their own stories.

Maths - Year 2 students have really enjoyed completing the hands-on activities in Maths when learning about location and giving directions. Students have had the opportunities to create mazes, zoos and farms and given their peers directions to move around their creations.

SEL - Students will be continuing to build connections with their peers and teachers. Classes will explore how to play fairly with their peers and together with their class they will make an agreement of steps to following when playing outside in the playground.

News and reminders:

Hats: Please remember hats are required throughout terms 1 (until April) and 4. Students without hats will be asked to sit/play under the shade sail on the courtyard steps.

Drink bottles: Please remember to bring a drink bottle to school every day, but more importantly throughout the summer terms. It saves disruption to your child's learning when this is accessible within the room.

Home Reading: Take home readers have started. We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.
