Meet the Teacher Afternoon

Wednesday 28  February | 3.30pm - 5pm

A reminder that on Wednesday 28 February we will be holding a Meet the Teacher Afternoon from 3.30pm - 5.00pm. This will be an opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers, see their learning spaces and share in some of the learning that has been happening in the first part of Term 1. There is no need to make individual bookings for this event. Further details will be shared by email next week.

House Athletics Carnival

Wednesday 21 February

 

800m and 3000m events sign up:

The House athletics events for the 800m and 3000m for Years 7 to 12 students will be on Wednesday 21 February at the Domain Athletics Centre. A bus will pick up students at the following times:

  • Years 7 and 8 students from the Argyle Street bus stop at 1.00pm. Students will return either at 2.15pm if running just the 800m or at 3.30pm if running both events.

The full day Athletics Carnival will be on Tuesday 27 February.

Co-curricular Ceramics 

This activity offers students the opportunity to work on self-directed ceramics projects, learn a variety of ceramic techniques and enjoy working in a relaxed and friendly studio. 

Students from Years 7 to 12 who would like to join co-curricular ceramics should contact Miriam Berkery. Parents/guardians will then be sent an Operoo notification to confirm your place in the group. Co-curricular Ceramics will run for Terms 1, 2 and 3. You do not have to commit to all three Terms. Joining for one or two terms is possible.

Tuesday 5 March | 3.50pm – 5.00pm

Co-curricular Sport Queries

Students in Years 7 and 8 were invited to sign up for Term 1 Co-Curricular Sport last week and students were sent information in the last couple of days. If parents/guardians have any queries regarding their child's co-curricular sport selections, please check Operoo. If parents/guardians have any further queries, please contact the Middle School Office 6210 2235.

Relay for Life 2024 - SIGN UPs CLOSING this MONDAY 19th FEBRUARY!!

This year’s Relay for Life will be held at the Domain Athletics Centre at the earlier date of Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of February

 

Students in Years 7-12 are invited to join our team and walk for an hour or more with the Friendlies’ (between 1-10pm on Saturday and/or 6-9 am on Sunday) to help raise money and awareness in support of the Cancer Council Tasmania.  

 

Student sign-ups CLOSE on MONDAY 19th February so sign-up today to avoid disappointment!

Hobart Rivulet Ecostudy Walk - Year 7 Connections Day

Backhouse and Oats: Friday 8 March 

Fry and Penn : Friday 15 March 

Mott and Walker:  Friday 22 March  

 

Students will be participating in a day-long walk along the Hobart Rivulet.  The day will have an environmental science focus. Students will conduct environmental surveys at 4 - 5 sites along the Hobart Rivulet.  Students should arrive at school at the usual time and will travel by bus to Strickland Falls. Students will be transported back to school after pick-up from Molle Street at the end of the day for usual dismissal times.

 

On the day, students should wear sports’ uniform including a hat and a waterproof coat.  Students should also bring any personal medications, and sunscreen. A change of shoes or gumboots is also required. Students will need recess snacks, lunch and a drink. As this trip is a full day in the field, please ensure that students have packed plenty to eat and drink.  A clipboard and pencil will also be required.

Whole School BBQ - NEXT WEEK

Wednesday 21 February | 4.30pm - 6pm

A reminder that RSVPs for the upcoming Whole School BBQ are due by Sunday 18 February. Although this is a free event we require RSVPs for catering purposes. This event will be held at 395 Argyle Street Hobart - Walpole Courtyard.

 

 

We will be welcoming The Rotary Club of Lindisfarne to run a sausage sizzle, both gluten free and vegan options will be available. Two of our students, Amelia Cooper (Year 10) and Rupert Bullard (Year 12) will be performing and we will have giant lawn games to play.
