Assembly

The next  Primary School Assembly will take place on Monday 19 February in The Farrall Centre and will commence at 2.15pm. We welcome families to attend.

Meet the Teacher

15, 20 and 22 February

Parents are invited to attend a “Meet the Teacher” session during February with Primary School classroom teachers. These sessions are designed to give you an overview of the learning program and classroom organisation for the year. Please note that child care will not be provided. All sessions will be held in classrooms at 5.00pm on the following dates:

 

Thursday 15 February - Year 3 and Year 4

Tuesday 20 February - Kinder and Prep

Thursday 22 February - Year 1 and Year 2

Whole School BBQ - NEXT WEEK

Wednesday 21 February | 4.30pm - 6pm

A reminder that RSVPs for the upcoming Whole School BBQ are due by Sunday 18 February. Although this is a free event we require RSVPs for catering purposes. This event will be held at 395 Argyle Street Hobart - Walpole Courtyard.

 

 

We will be welcoming The Rotary Club of Lindisfarne to run a sausage sizzle, both gluten free and vegan options will be available. Two of our students, Amelia Cooper (Year 10) and Rupert Bullard (Year 12) will be performing and we will have giant lawn games to play.

Relay for Life | SIGN UPs CLOSING this MONDAY 19th FEBRUARY!!

Year 5 and 6 students are invited to join our School Team “Friendlies” in participating in the Relay for Life from 2.00pm - 5.00pm on Saturday 24 February at the Domain Athletics Centre. For more information, please see the attached letter or contact Sharon Ryan who is the coordinator for the primary team.

Mini Swim Carnival - Year 5

Friday 16 February 

A Mini Swim Carnival will be held at Friends’ Health & Fitness pool during PE sessions on Friday 16 February for Year 5 students from  9.00am - 10.30am. Students will be walked to and from school by class teachers and will be required to bring bathers, cap, towel and goggles (if required). All students are required to attend. 

 

The JSSATIS selection carnival will run on the following dates/times for children who have swum in 50 events in the mini carnivals and wish to be considered:

Year 5 and 6: Wednesday 21 February (9.15am-12.15pm)

Year 3 and 4: Thursday 22 February (9.15am-12.15pm)

Year 5 - Collaborative Day at the Domain

Friday 23 February

On Friday 23 February, all Year 5 students will be participating in a collaborative learning day at Legacy Park Community Hub Playground on the Queen’s Domain. The aim of the day is to develop collaborative learning skills through a range of activities in accordance with our focus approach to learning during our How we organise ourselves inquiry. Activities will be run in cross class groupings to also develop our Year 5 learning community; an opportunity to get to know all students and teachers across the year level. 

 

Students will be walking to and from school, departing at 10.00am and returning to school by 3.10pm. They should bring a packed lunch, morning and afternoon tea, a drink bottle and hat. NO CANTEEN ORDERS ON THIS DAY. Sunscreen will be provided throughout the day and the students are invited to wear their P.E. uniform for this excursion.

Years 3 and 5 Learn to Swim

Monday 26 February - Friday 1 March

The Years 3 and 5 Learn to Swim program will be held at Friends’ Health & Fitness pool from Monday 26 February - Friday 1 March. Any enquiries please contact Lisa Di Venuto on 6210 2228.

Absentees

If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Primary School Office (phone: 6210 2228, or email: primaryschooloffice@friends.tas.edu.au ) and the classroom teacher before 9.00am. We appreciate your support in this process.
