Assembly

Class 4/5 - Margaret Wild Book Review

At Friday's assembly, students in Kathryn's class shared with us what they have been working on in English.

This term our class have been completing an author’s study on ‘Margaret Wild’… her books are just amazing with so much detail and deep ideas to think about.

Did you know that Margaret Wild is an award-winning children’s picture storybook author who has published more than 70 books? She was born in a small town in South Africa in 1948 and only moved to Australia in 1972. Her books explore many themes but particularly identity, trust and death.

In our class we have been share reading Margaret Wild books, discussing what they mean, and identifying the main theme or idea.

In writing, we have been analysing the descriptive language Margaret Wild uses in her books to make her stories interesting and engaging and we are now starting to create our own picture story books based off the Margaret Wild mentor text, ‘Tanglewood’.

For assembly we each chose a different Margaret Wild book to create our own book review to share.

Thank you to our Year 6 hosts Elske, Dandy, Eli and Hugh.
