Falls Creek Mountain Biking Interschools

Last Friday some of our students participated in the Falls Creek Mountain Biking Interschools. Off the back of our 2022/23 school win students were excited to head up and try to take the trophy a third year in a row.

Division 5: Cooper, Goldie, Hugo and Queenie

Division 4: Griffin, Sebastian, Tom, Alex and Mack

All students times where great, undertaking 3 laps of their age group course and each contributed to our Schools overall tally.  As a school we placed 3rd on the prodium.

Thank you to Nicole for supporting us as our teacher for the day.

Parents and teachers were also given an option to enter in a lap of the division 4 course. Well done to Claire, Jarrod, Karen, Matt and Phil.  You had all our crew cheering you on.

Congratulations to Mack, Goldie and Queenie for placing on the podium in their division.

A recap on the day from a few of our participants.

"When we arrived at Falls Creek we had a look around the tracks and then all the kids got ready for the race. We lined up at the starting line but we had to go in waves so that all the kids didn't bump each other off their bikes.

I raced against year 4 students from around the regions. Everyone was trying to get to the front and then the race was on. We had to do 3 laps of the easy course. It was flat and then it went up and then down again which was pretty challenging. My favourite part was at the end when everyone was cheering us on as we crossed the finish line. It was a really close finish. I was really exhausted and I was breathing hard to push myself to the end. I felt very nervous at the start but then once I finished I thought "I can't believe I just did that!"

I came 2nd in the year 4 girls group and one of my best mates Goldie came 3rd."

"This was my first interschools. I enjoyed going up to my local tracks and being able to compete with my friends.  The up hill part of my course was hard, but on the downhill parts I could make up my timing. I am looking forward to doing it all again next year."

OLD TENNIS RACQUETS NEEDED

(for display only - so they don’t need to function)

Do you have an old, unused or broken tennis racquet at home?

Mount Beauty Tennis Club would love to use them as a display. Racquets can be passed on to Kathryn at the 4/5 classroom to pass on to Paul.

Happy Hitting… and don’t forget Wednesday tennis club at school. Everyone is welcome.
