Music Report

A message from Mrs Shell Porter

Music is once again well and truly off the ground here at Ben Venue for 2024. We have some major performances to work towards, including the Armidale Eisteddfod in May and New England Sings! in October.

Term 1 music program

Kindergarten have been exploring the instruments of the Orchestra and the Ben Venue Music room. A big favourite are the marimbas! Stage 1 are sounding amazing as they refine their singing techniques, while Stage 2 are learning how to play the recorder. Stage 3 are working on 'Stand by Me' by Ben E. King, creating class ensembles to include a range of instruments. It has been wonderful to see how each ensemble has it's own character depending on which instruments students are able to play.

Choir and Orchestra

Junior (Stage 2) and Senior (Stage 3) choirs have started up. Students who have never been involved before are most warmly welcomed! Also the Ben Venue School Orchestra rehearsals on Thursday lunchtimes began in Week 5. Interested students are very welcome!

Ukulele donation

Last weekend at a Can Assist auction in Uralla Terry Rhodes, of Terry Rhodes Earthmoving, bid on a ukulele and accessories to donate to Ben Venue. This will be greatly appreciated by our students later in the year when ukulele time comes around. Many thanks Terry, we really appreciate your generosity!

Keep on singing!
