FIRECarriers Commissioning Ceremony

On Tuesday 27th February our new FIRE Carriers for 2024 were commissioned in a special ceremony.  FIRE stands for Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education and our FIRE Carriers are responsible for leading our school in promoting Reconciliation with Indigenous Australians and their history.  

The ceremony began with an Acknowledgement of Country, followed by an explanation of the meaning behind the term "FIRE Carriers" and what a commissioning ceremony is all about.  The school's FIRE Carrier sculpture was then brought out and placed near the fire pit and artworks were handed down from our last year's FIRE Carrier team to our 2024 team.

For each of the new FIRE Carriers, a 2023 FIRE Carrier warmed their hands around the flame and placed them near the new FIRE Carrier faces and were presented with a badge.

The ceremony ended with a reading of the commitment and a special blessing.

Well done and thank you to all  involved in organising such a special ceremony.  And well done to our 2023 FIRE Carriers for the commitment you demonstrated in your role last year, raising over $800 for the Opening the Doors Foundation, amongst many other things.
