From the Principal

Rudy Vail

Dear Parents and Carers,

I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the busy yet wonderful week. There were a couple of special events that I'm particularly proud to have been a part of, and I would like to share these highlights with you.

Fire Carriers Commissioning Ceremony

Firstly, the Fire Carriers Commissioning ceremony was a truly memorable occasion. It provided us with the opportunity to induct some of our new school leaders into their roles. This ceremony not only celebrated their achievements but also served as a powerful reminder of our school's commitment to indigenous reconciliation. We remain dedicated to supporting the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry and the Open Door Foundation in their important work.

Prep & Year1 Dinner

On Wednesday night, I had the privilege of meeting and sharing a meal with the prep and year 1 parents. It was a delightful experience filled with joy as we shared stories and made meaningful connections. These moments strengthen the sense of community within our school, and I am grateful for the opportunity to foster such connections.

Vision for Instruction

This week I attended some professional learning in relation to Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) Vision for Instruction. MACS is currently developing long term plans for improving learning and teaching, some of the details that were presented to school leaders about the new initiative are bel.

By 2030, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) aims to become ‘the benchmark for excellence in teaching and learning, through a coherently integrated, academically competitive and distinctively Catholic educational offering’ (MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World).

The Flourishing Learners position statement, Vision for Instruction, is a key document underpinning the MACS 2030 strategic plan. Vision for Instruction has been crafted to communicate MACS’ preferred system-wide approach to achieving teaching and learning excellence. It is firmly grounded in the evidence of how students learn most effectively and efficiently, offering explicit guidance for MACS schools on instructional best practice.

Vision for Instruction was launched on Thursday 22 February 2024.

First Aid Training

Next week, all staff will undergo mandatory First Aid training to ensure everyone is up to date on safety protocols. This is a requirement for all schools to enhance the well-being of our community.

Twilight Sports

This is just a reminder that we have our Twilight Sports on Thursday March the 14th. As in previous years school will close at 1.25 p.m to allow teachers to set up. Further details will be sent out about Twilight Sport in due course.

Kind regards,

Rudy Vail
