Year 9 Rite Journey Camp

Well done to all the Year 9s for making it through the five-day Rite Journey Camp! Personally, I’m glad I don’t go camping every week of the year. At the same time, going without my comfortable bed and cooking over a fire for a few days each year is a great blessing. 

It is wonderful to be reminded of God’s grandeur and goodness in creation, as well as to face the hardships of meeting daily needs when technology and convenience are out of reach. 

Every year I freshly learn, appreciate and see things that just aren't so visible from the comfort of my living room.

We teachers were struck by the resilience and goodwill of these Year 9s as they banded together to hike, bike and camp for four days and camp alone for their final 24 hours. 

Here are some quotes from the Year 9s that capture their experiences on camp:

• It pushed me to try new things, and I had fun. 
• Although it was tough, I'm proud that I endured it all and happy that I made lots of memories along the way.
• It was a fun camp and made me realise how many little things I take for granted. 
• It wasn't as bad as I was expecting and I ended up having more fun then I had originally intended to have. 
• My camp experience was exciting, and we got to know people we wouldn't normally spend time with. 
• It was a good experience to constantly be around nature, and with friends. 
• It was really good to be away from technology and get thoughts to myself, and to talk to people. 
• It was definitely the best camp. It was tiring but I actually didn't feel tired at the end. The activities were fun, solo was actually good except for the mosquitoes. 
• Some things were hard in the moment but when I looked back at the end of each day I really liked it.

CREATIVE INDUSTRIES NIGHT 2026

Join us for a whole-school celebration of student creativity, talent, and innovation.

Creative Industries Night brings together Visual Art, Design, Music, Drama, Dance, Technologies, and Home Economics to showcase our students' outstanding learning and artistic achievements.

Date: Thursday, 15 October 2026 (Week 1, Term 4)

Time: 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Location: Emmaus Christian College, South Plympton

FREE ENTRY 

What to expect:

Exhibitions: Visual Art, Design, Technologies, and Home Economics displays.

Live Performances: Music, Drama, and Dance 

Building Tours: Explore the new Design and Technology facility.

Food & Drinks: Food trucks: OMG Donuts and Moi An Vietnamese Street Food on site for purchase 

Supervision: 

Parents and caregivers must supervise their children throughout the evening. 

Staff will manage event spaces and performances rather than provide general student supervision.

Performers: Teachers will contact students participating in performances directly with details in the coming week.
