Welcome Back to Term 4
A very warm welcome back to all our students, families and staff as we begin Term 4. This final term of the year is always a special one, filled with opportunities for learning, celebration and reflection. We are excited about all that lies ahead and pray that this term will be one of joy, perseverance and continued growth for every member of our community.
Building Community through Connection
We have several wonderful opportunities coming up for our students to connect, serve and celebrate together.
- This Thursday 15 October, our Year 3 and 4 students will be performing at the Creative Industries Night, showcasing their talents and creativity.
- This Friday 16 October, our Foundation to Year 2 students will enjoy their Sports Day, a much-anticipated day of fun, teamwork and encouragement.
Week 2 is shaping up to be a wonderful week of learning, service and community.
- Mrs Pieterse and our Year 3 and 4 students will visit Vermont Village to share music with residents through singing and recorder performances. These visits are always a highlight, bringing joy to the residents while providing our students with the opportunity to serve and connect with others in our wider community.
- Later in the week, after we farewell our Year 12 students, our Year 2 students will enjoy their much-anticipated Sleepover, an exciting milestone filled with special memories.
- Our Year 5 students will also head off mid-week to Willow Creek Camp, where they will be challenged to develop their teamwork, resilience and leadership skills through a range of engaging activities and shared experiences.
Helping children develop resilience
As parents and educators, one of the most valuable gifts we can give our children is resilience. While we all prefer life to go smoothly, it is often through navigating unexpected changes, disappointments and challenges that children grow in confidence, perseverance and problem-solving.
Many of the experiences we provide at school are designed to nurture this resilience. From our Year 2 Sleepover, where students begin building independence away from home, to our annual camps that challenge students to work as a team, persevere and try new things. These opportunities help children grow in confidence and character. Likewise, participating in sporting events teaches students to manage nerves, embrace challenges and celebrate effort as well as achievement. Each of these experiences helps prepare our children not just for success, but for life's inevitable ups and downs.
While our natural instinct is often to remove obstacles or solve problems quickly for children, growth frequently occurs when they are given opportunities to work through difficulties with support and encouragement. Whether it is a changed routine, a friendship challenge, a forgotten item or an unexpected change of plans, these moments provide valuable opportunities for children to practise flexibility and problem-solving.
By helping children understand that it is okay to feel disappointed while also encouraging them to adapt and move forward, we equip them with skills that will serve them well throughout life. Together, let us continue to encourage our children to embrace challenges, trust God's guidance and remember that growth often happens when things do not unfold exactly as expected
