Year 10 Reflection Day

Sofia Vearing

Our adventure begins on the 15th of August. We boarded two buses and made our way towards the Dunkeld Community centreWe were met with seven of the most upbeat people on the planet and after a quick vibe check (we had a kooky vibe) we began with subway surfers, kinda.

Three students watched a quick skit by the gang and had to re-enact it, let’s just say it was definitely interesting. We then split off to talk about where our priorities are at the moment, we also landed on the topic of what kitchen utensil we are.

Quick break and then we were back for another vibe check (we climbed up to a narley), we were back to another skit by the gang, we learnt that our actions can have a major impact on others and we shouldn’t try and make others like ourselves. Back to the small groups and we looked inside ourselves to see who we truly were without the outside factors of others pushing in on us. Another skit and this one was about how if we trust God, he can help heal our hearts after they’ve been broken, and we should forgive those who broke it.

After another break we charged on with a balloon game where you had to be the first to pop the balloon blindfolded and everyone else had to direct you. It was hectic. But after that it was just one person talking, directing us where to go. We found a deeper meaning - in that in our lives we have a lot of chaos and things talking to us but if we signal out all the noise and direct our attention to God it will be clearer and easier to go about our lives. We then had a private convo with God and lit candles. One last vibe check (we managed to hit “woe”) and we were off, all feeling much more enlightened.
