Year 9 Retreat Day

Nathan Ough

On Monday August, the Yr. 9 cohort had the opportunity to go off campus to Dunkeld and partake in a retreat day run by the Youth Mission Team (YMT) from Melbourne. YMT has been ministering to students Victoria since 1998. YMT Melbourne provides young people with a dynamic and relevant encounter with the Gospel, empowering them to make positive life choices.

The Yr. 9 program focussed on social justice and how students can affirm, empower, and restore human dignity. Students enjoyed many interactive activities which got them exploring social justice in our school, community, and wider world. YMT gave the chance for students to reflect and realise that God loves and accepts us for who we are. While wanting us to know our immeasurable value in His sight, Jesus doesn’t force Himself into our lives but rather waits patiently for us to open the door to Him. The experience of this relationship reinforces the dignity and goodness of every person and empowers us to love and serve others in a powerful way.

We thank Mr. Molan and Mrs. Mailes for joining Yr. 9 on this retreat and YMT for delivering a fun and meaningful program for our students.
